Our History
Moffitt Family Funeral Care is built on a long tradition of service, compassion, and deep community roots in Macon County. For more than 50 years, Don and Kathy Moffitt have dedicated their lives to serving families through ministry. As former Pastor of Prentiss Church and now Pastor Emeritus, Don’s calling to guide and care for others has shaped the foundation of our funeral home and the way we support the Franklin community today.
Their son, David Moffitt—a sixth-generation Maconian—continues that legacy with the same devotion and sense of purpose. A licensed North Carolina Funeral Director since 1999, David grew up watching his parents care for neighbors during life’s most difficult moments. That upbringing instilled in him a profound passion for helping families navigate loss with dignity, understanding, and heartfelt support.
From the beginning, Moffitt Family Funeral Care has embraced a simple but powerful belief: we are not in the business of sales—we are in the business of service. Each day offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of a grieving family, and we strive to honor that responsibility with humility, respect, and compassion.
Our purpose remains clear: to walk beside families in Franklin and throughout Macon County, offering guidance, comfort, and personal care as we help them honor a life well lived.
