Wilma Daisy Edwards Roper, 86, of Franklin, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015.
Born in Macon Co, she was the daughter of the late AJ Edwards and Daisy Baldwin Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers. Wilma worked as the cafeteria manager for Iotla Elementary School for many years. Her motto in life was, "Never let a child go hungry". She was an avid reader and loved gardening, canning and freezing, sewing and quilting. Wilma was a devoted, lifelong member of Iotla Baptist Church where she was a member of the Homebuilders Sunday School Class, was on the fellowship hall building committee and served on other various committees at church. She was a member of the Sew-N-Sow quilting group, she enjoyed walking the greenway with friends and was a homemaker and excellent cook.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Bernard Roper; two daughters, Martha Holbrook and husband Jim and Marilyn Tallent both of Franklin; three grandchildren, Matthew Holbrook and wife Aimee, Michael Tallent and wife Cassie and Chad Shuler all of Franklin and five great grandchildren, Waylon and Weston Holbrook, Kayla Shuler, Nivia and Breanna Tallent.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9th at Iotla Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Hensley and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM, prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be George Roper, Bill Queen, Mike Tallent, George Lynch, Wayne Lynch, Tony Ledford, Stan Penland and Mike Breedlove.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Tippett, John Campbell Bible Class and the Home Builders Sunday School Class.
