Obituary

William Langford Welch, 88, of Franklin, entered into rest Wednesday, July 13, 2005.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Wilburn E. and Alice Kimsey Welch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. He was a mill worker in the lumber industry; a US Army veteran, being one of the first volunteers from Macon County during WWII; worked as a sheep herder in Utah; and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are sisters and brothers, Maude Baldwin, Muriel Welch, and Thomas Paul Welch, all of Franklin; Fred Welch of Sylva, NC; Joanna Hedrick of Charlotte, NC; and Louis Welch of Jefferson City, TN; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Burningtown Baptist Church. Rev. Jim Kinard will officiate. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Macon Funeral Home.
