Obituary
William Andrew Brooks, Sr., 67, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015.
Born in Middlesboro, KY, he was the son of the late Doyle Brooks and Bertha Goldie Brooks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters. William was a US Marine Corps veteran and served during the Vietnam era. He was a member of VFW Post 7338 and American Legion Post 108. He loved riding motorcycles and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dawn Lynn Chamberlin Brooks; six children, Tommy Lynn Brooks of Middlesboro, KY, William A. Brooks Jr. of Michigan, Mike Welch of Franklin, Scott Welch of Sylva, NC, Angela Maney of Sylva and Lisa Brooks of Franklin and four grandchildren, Josh Welch, Lexxie Smith, Kylee Maney and Chloe Maney. Serveral nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 1st at 6:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Appalachian Animal Rescue, PO Box 81, Franklin, NC 28744.
