William Doug Simpson, 84, of Franklin, NC, entered into rest on Friday, June 23, 2006.
A native of Canton, NC, he was the son of the late Dean Simpson and Dolly Myers Simpson. Doug was a member of First United Methodist Church; member of the Junaluskee Masonic Lodge No. 145; 32nd degree Mason and was town alderman for 28 years. He was owner/operator of Simpson Oil Co. for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth Franklin Simpson; three sons, David, Jim and Bob all of Franklin; one daughter, Mary Ray of Snellville, GA; one sister, Mildred Graves of Atlanta, GA; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Wayne Allen and Rev. Maria Edmonds will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday, 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oasis Shrine Temple (Shriners Hospital for Children) PO Box 560666, Charlotte, NC 28256.
