Obituary

William Verco Hyatt, 88, of Franklin, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 7, 2006.

A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Frank and Laura Wilson Hyatt. He was married to the late Edith Hyatt who died in 1981 and was preceded in death by three brothers, Perry, Leon and Leo and two sisters, Lucy Rogers and Marie Mashburn. Verco was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by two daughters, Frankie Bowers and husband Dennis and Freda Watson and husband Alvin all of Franklin; one son, William Ray Hyatt of Asheville, NC; one brother, Eddie Hyatt of Marysville, Washington; five sisters, Villie Johnson of Sylva, NC, Ruby Sloan of Ringgold, VA, Myrtle Crawford, Evelyn Brendle and Maxine Sanders all of Franklin; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Webb and Rev. Mike Fox will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Watson, Bill Stanfield, David Bryant, Danny Rogers, Doug Johnson, Jim Shook, Bruce Holland and Harold Ray Hyatt.

Memorial donations may be made to the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Mary Wilson, 3110 Pumpkintown Road, Sylva, NC 28779.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
