William "Billy" Hedden, 70, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011.
Born in Macon Co., he was the son of the late Arley Willis Hedden and Elmira Berry Hedden. Billy was a US Army veteran and worked for General Motors. He enjoyed rock hounding, Indian relics and enjoyed writing poems. Billy was a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Mashburn Hedden; two children, Teresa MacLennan and husband David of Waterford, MI and Arley Willis Hedden of Franklin; step-father, Ernest Hedden; a sister, Sharon Hunt of Franklin; two brothers, Sammy Hedden of Franklin and Steve Hedden of Athens, AL; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Alton Dendy and Rev. Wesley Hooper will officiate. Burial will be in Strain Cemetery with full military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Hedden, Steve Hedden, Bobby Hunt, Dave MacLennan, Larry Mashburn, James Hedden and Colin MacLennan.
Memorial donations can be made to Strain Cemetery, 4386 Walnut Creek Road and Macon County Habilities C/O Janie Garrett.
