Obituary

William, "Bill" Gibson, of Franklin, formally of Otto, North Carolina, passed away January 16th, 2012 at the age of 93.
Born and raised in Springfield Massachusetts, son of the late William and Annabelle Harrington Gibson. He attended the American International College before entering the Air force in 1942. He was a flight instructor during World War II and a recon-pilot completing his 100 missions during the Korean War and awarded the DFC. He was owner operator of AAA Economy Furniture and Antiques in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Along with a summer shop in Highlands, North Carolina. He designed and built several homes for the family with great mechanical and technical abilities. His hobbies included building, winemaking, gardening and love for traveling and camping throughout the United States and Abroad. He was a member of the VFW post 7339, lifetime member of the DAV, volunteer of the fire department of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and the Elks Lodge of Palm Coast Florida. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles James Roberts III "Mackey".
He is survived by his wife, of 67 years, Taimi Lappi Gibson, and 3 daughters, Gayle Gibson, of Ft. Lauderdale Florida, Suzanne Davenport and husband Randy Holloway, of Canyon Lake Texas, Kathryn Roberts of West Palm Beach, Florida, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several cousins.
Memorial services will be held on January 21st 2012 at 2pm, with visitation beginning at 1pm, at Macon Funeral Home, Franklin, North Carolina. Rev. Duane Corle will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
