William Donald "Don" Kovacs, 80, Franklin, NC, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, March 16, 2016. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Bill and Shirley Stone Kovacs. He was a life member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Association. Don was the state champion butterfly swimmer at South Broward High School in Hollywood Florida. He was a US Navy Veteran during the Korean War where he was a photo journalist; founder and first president of Florida Alarm Association; developer of Tavernier Towne Shopping Center of the Florida Keys; vice mayor of Hollywood Florida; owned Kovacs Sign Company and Franklin Riding Stables. He was a pilot, raced boats, building and electrical contractors, scuba diver and an actor.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; son, Robert Kovacs (Nicole); daughters, Deborah Young(Parrish), Kimberly Brabson, Pamela Goden; sister, Rhoda Stern of Miami FL; half-brother, Simon Kovacs; half-sister, Rose Hochman; sister-in law, Jean Lamer (Kenneth); twelve grandchildren, Joshua, Kayla, Jacob, Parrish and Jeremiah Young, Samantha Green and the late David Green, Sarah Biadasz Solesbee, Nicholas Biadasz and Robert, Sarah and Brandon Kovacs and several great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
