Wanda Jean Tallent, 75, of Otto, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

Born in Jackson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Claude Benjamin Melton and Beulah May Hoxit Melton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Tallent who died in 2008 and brothers and sisters, Willard Melton, Louise Buchanan, Blanche Melton, Kelly Melton and Wayne Melton and an infant sister. Wanda enjoyed sewing, drawing, canning, gardening and music.

She is survived by her companion Melvin Grant and his family of Tiger, GA; four children, Vivian Hay (Dennis) of Athens, GA, Chris Tallent (Debbie) of Otto, NC, Danny Tallent of Otto and Kim Tallent of Franklin; brother and sisters, Howard Melton of Sylva, Burder Melton of Pikeville, KY, Grady Melton of Eureka, CA, Ruth Brooks of Sylva and Glenn Melton of Sylva; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, October 13, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Don Moffitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Rush Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Friday, prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Hay, Anthony McCormack, Morgan Tallent, Danny Tallent, Dylan Tallent and Joshua Morgan.
