Walter Lee Robinson, Jr., 85, of Franklin, NC, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2007.

A native of Sofkee, GA, he was the son of the late Walter Lee Robinson, Sr. and Minnie Haddock
Robinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Kersey Robinson, who died in December 2002. He retired in 1982 from Federal Civil Service where he was a Mechanical Systems Planner and Estimator. Mr. Robinson had extensive experience in the plumbing, heating and pipefitting trades. He was a Petty Officer 1st Class in the Navy and was serving on the USS California when Pearl Harbor was attacked during WW II. He had been president and vice president of Parker Farms Homeowner association; was a faithful member for many years of the Church of the Nazarene, and attended Christian Missionary Alliance in Franklin.

Surviving are three children, Rebecca Louise Shepard of Franklin, Walter Lee Robinson III of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and Timothy Albert Robinson of Brentwood, TN; one brother, DeWitt Robinson of Louisiana; thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 24, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Harry Widener will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, August 23, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Craig Robinson, William Smith, John Shepard, Elwood Shepard, III, Rob Ladd, and David Hodgins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Warrell, Maxie Burrell and Tim McClure.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
