Waldo H. "Gibby" Gibson, 88, of Franklin, entered into rest on Thursday, January 6, 2005.
A native of Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of the late Richard Harlan Gibson and Cora Belle Hughes Gibson. He was a member of Angel Medical Center Auxiliary for 20 years with over 12,000 hours of volunteer service; in 2003 he received the NC Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service; was a member of the Macon County Lions Club for 20 years serving on the Flag Committee for a number of years; in 1999 was Lions Club Lion of the year; was a lifetime member of American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE); was active in Palm Beach County Gem and Mineral Society for many years; was a member of First Presbyterian Church in West Palm Beach, FL and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and was a charter member of the Tropada Club of Palm Beach County, FL.
He lived a life of service, always giving selflessly to others.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lorine Brown Gibson; five children, Paula MacKenzie, Kathy Gestar, Florence Gibson, Jenny Scott and Waldo Gibson, Jr.; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, January 10, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Randy Drinnon will officiate.
