Viola Ashley Nicole Willis Brown, 59, of Springfield, MO, entered into rest Monday, February 21, 2005, in Springfield.
A native of Bryson City, NC, she was the daughter of the late Garland Willis, who died in 1998 and Hazel Burns Willis. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Willis who died in 1963. Ashley was a waitress with Cedars Restaurant in Springfield where she looked forward to serving her many customers and friends. She enjoyed gardening, especially roses, watching and collecting butterflies and fishing. She was of the Southern Baptist faith.
In addition to her mother, Hazel Burns Willis of Franklin, she is survived by her husband, Keith Brown; two children, Steven Phillips of Franklin and Kimberly Phipps and husband, Tim of Eureka, CA; four grandchildren, Christopher, Misty, Beth and Jennifer Taylor; two brothers-in-law, Gary D. Brown of Springfield, and Kenneth Brown of Coffeeville, KS; her mother-in-law, Juanita Sheets of Springfield; two brothers, Clifford Willis and wife, Zinnia of Sylva, NC, and Van Willis and wife, Sandy of LaPorte, IN; nine sisters, Dorothy Nix of Rabun Gap, GA, Marie Bryson and husband, Hayward of Clarksville, GA, Paralee Hunter of Leesburg, FL, Virgie Yonce, of Franklin, her twin sister, Verona Tucker and husband, Don of Ringgold, GA, Clara Little and husband, Carl of Hortense, GA, Jewell Leonard and husband,Larry of Lexington, NC, Eva Clontz and husband, Gene of Asheville, NC, Clover Norton and husband, Jim of Murfreesboro, TN, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2005, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Clifford Willis will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
It was Ashley's request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association, 2400 Troost Avenue, Suite 4300, Kansas City, MO 64108.
