Vernon Frank Smith, 99, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015.

Born in Hempstead, NY, he was the son of the late Frank Smith and Adia Valentine Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Dean Smith who died in 2003; daughter, Laura Melissa Wolkenbrod as well as an infant baby and one brother and two sisters. Vernon loved boating, fishing, NASCAR and motorcycles. He was Methodist by Faith. He was a volunteer fireman for many years in Bellmore, NY and achieved the position of Captain.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Ferrara; grandson, Ralph Ferrara, Jr.; granddaughter, Susan Ferrara,; grandsons, Bruce and Kevin Wolkenbrod; granddaughter, Lisa Wolkenbrod; great granddaughter, Ultra Ferrara and a great great-granddaughter, Danika Gibson and great grandsons, Kenny Gibson and Kyle Naxareth.

No Services have been planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Clarks Chapel Fire Department.
