Obituary

Verlie Mae Cochran Chambless, 64, of Franklin, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 after she lost her battle to cancer.

Born in Macon Co., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Sylvester Cochran and Ollie Leigh Pendergrass Cochran. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Ray Chambless and two brothers, Harold Clifton Cochran and Charles Blanton Cochran. Mae worked many years as a cook at Longview Steak House and Dooley's Restaurant. She loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Tammy Combs and husband Steve, Tonya Chambless and Tracy Hood all of Franklin; three step-children, Debra Ann Jones, Randy Chambless and Dale Chambless all of Tifton, GA; five brothers and sisters, Ronald Reid "Tommy" Cochran of Franklin, Elsie Sanford of Ellijay, GA, Corrina Hooper and Pamela Fay Swanson both of Franklin and Emma Jean Lazenby of Covington, GA; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 16th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Hayes and Rev. Don Moffitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Burningtown Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Justin Stamey, Derek Stamey, Brandon Carpenter, Larry Davis, Steve Hood and Josh Grandstaff.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
