Toney "Gene" Peeler, 68, of Franklin, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012.
Born in Lincoln Co., NC, he was the son of the late John A. Peeler and Mary Rayfield Peeler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret McCray. Gene loved woodworking, restoring old lawn mowers, camping, fishing, going to yard sales and spending time with his family. "Pops" enjoyed spending time with and attending his grandson's sporting events. Gene was a member of Pine Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie Peeler of Franklin; daughter, Janice Jordan and husband Jeff of Franklin; son, Scott Peeler of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two brothers, Tommy Peeler of Denver, NC and Johnny Peeler and wife Janice of Lincolnton, NC; a very special grandson, Jeremy Jordan and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Newell will officiate.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
