Obituary
Thomas John Spies, Sr., 79, of Franklin, NC went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018.
Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Herbert Louis Spies and Florence Marie Paul Spies and predeceased by brothers Frances Delaney and Robert Spies.
Tom is survived by his three children, Pamela Jean Spies of Fredericksburg, VA, Susan Spies Brown (Jim Brown Jr.) of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Thomas John Spies Jr. of Athens, GA; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Tom graduated from Brush High School in Cleveland, OH where he was awarded a full basketball scholarship to Florida State University. He owned and operated American Battery in Franklin, NC for 20+ years. Before being diagnosed with ITP, he would be seen on the Franklin Golf Course often. He is loved and will be missed by his family and his many dear friends in Franklin.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
