Thomas Franklin Dillard, 87, of Cashiers, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016.
Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late William Paul Dillard and Edna Holden Dillard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Dillard. Thomas was a US Army veteran and served during the Korean conflict. He was a car enthusiast, loved animals and enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and growing dahlias. Thomas was a member of Cashiers United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Cashiers Glenville Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Faye Allen Dillard; three children, Elizabeth Dillard Jones and husband Marty of Glenville, NC, Thomas Franklin Dillard Jr. of Cashiers and William "Randy" Dillard of Cashiers; sister, Marilyn Allison and husband Jim of Watkinsville, GA; sister-in law, Opal Dillard of Cashiers; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 3rd at Cashiers United Methodist Church. Rev. Bill Rintz, Rev. David Beam and Rev. Steve Kerhoulas will officiate. Burial will be in the Upper Zachary Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108. Masonic Rites will be conducted by Glenville Lodge 551.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Dillard, Albert Dillard, David Blanton, Evan Jones, Rob Herstek and Todd Dillard.
