Thelma Ledford Waldroop, 83, of Franklin passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Marion Ledford and Franchie Sanders Ledford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bert "Ed" Waldroop; sister, Marie Ramey; brothers, Calvin Ledford, Ellis Ledford, and Wilson Ledford; and grandson, Patrick Penland. Thelma was a very active member of Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Lay Speaker. She was also a travel guide for the "Waldroop Wanderers". Thelma had a giving heart, always wanting to help others.
She is survived by children, Sherry Vanhook (Billy), Terry DeVane (Greg), former son-in-law, Bill Penland, and Robin Mashburn (Jackie) all of Franklin; brother, Al Ledford; sisters, Barbara McConnell, Yvonne Angel, and Jo "Tootsie" Dehart; grandchildren, Amy, Benjamin, Lindsay, Katy, and Paige; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, February 10 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Don Moffitt, Rev. Kevin Chapman, and John Rogers will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Louisa Chapel UMC Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
