The Reverend Edward F Leblanc, passed, as he lived his life very peacefully, at home on Friday June 16, 2006. Ed, as he was called was born in Cleveland Ohio, on June 27, 1922. Son of the late Howard E LeBlanc and Jane Cook LeBlanc. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Jane Plesz, two wives, Shirlene Stark Leblanc, Frieda Edna Holland LeBlanc and two grandsons David and Tommy Brown .
He graduated from Newbury High School in 1940. When he was 17 he joined the army his unit, the 37th division 5th corps in the 1st army. In World War II his unit landed on Omaha Beach at H plus 30 ( 30 minutes after the initial fist wave) Ed earned numerous medals including the purple heart.
Returning from the war Ed became a firefighter for Shaker Heights fire Department in Cleveland Ohio. He taught technical fire prevention and arson investigations at Case Western Reserve, Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland State University, Bowling Green State University, Kent State and FDIC in Memphis Tennessee. He was awarded Honorary Dean of Ohio State Fire School at Bowling Green State University in August of 1982.
After he retired from the Fire Department Ed moved to Florida and worked as the Administrator for the Unity Church of Sarasota for many years. At the age of 66 he was called into ministry and graduated from the Unity School for Religious Studies and was ordained by the Association of Unity Churches in June of 1991.
Edward was a 50 year member of The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Worthington Ohio.
In August of 1991, he and his wife The Reverend Ruthann LeBlanc came to Franklin to serve the Unity Church of Franklin for nine years. They also began the Unity Church of Blairsville in 1998. Rev Ed has spent his retirement years in his garden and enjoying helping people as he could.
Edward is survived by his wife of 26 years, The Reverend Ruthann LeBlanc. He is also survived by his children Gary LeBlanc and his wife Betsy, Karen Brown, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a niece Carolyn Ward from Newbury Ohio. In Franklin he is survived by family, John Shapard Senior, Vickie Ferreira, Carol McCallum and Cynthia Michael.
Memorial Service will be held at 3:p.m. Sunday, June 25th Macon Funeral Home on 261 Iolta St Franklin NC. The Reverend Al Beck and The Reverend Vic Green will officiate the service. Musicians Connie and Walt Wurster.
