Terrel Robert Roper, 70, of Franklin, NC, entered into rest on Saturday, February 18, 2006.
A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Roby Roper and Lola Bryant Roper. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the U.S. Forest Service. Terrel was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as greeter and was a member of the BYKOTA Class. He was a member of the Junaluskee Masonic Lodge #145.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Louise Long Roper; two children, Steve Roper and wife Rhonda of Cleveland, Tenn. and Theresa Smith of Franklin, NC; two brothers, Clarence Roper of Fairview, NC and Gilmer Roper of Marion, NC; four grandchildren, Jason Smith, Jana Smith, Jacob Roper and Andrew Roper; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 20, at First Baptist Church. Rev. Harold Ball and Rev. Don Moffitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, February 19, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Guffie, Jason Smith, Bill Higdon, David Alligood, Joe Ballew, Dale Holland and George Lynch.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the BYKOTA Class of First Baptist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lewis Rathbun Wellness Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
