Ted Farmer, 84, of Franklin passed away Friday, February 1, 2019.
Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late John Truitt Farmer and Lillian Ledford Farmer Cowart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ned Farmer and Fred Farmer; and sisters, Kathy Cowart and Judy Sprinkle. Ted was a US Navy veteran who served during the Korean Conflict as a Seabee on the Kwajalein Islands. He was a Sewing Machine Repairman with Bassett-Walker for 42 years. Ted was a devoted Christian of Baptist faith and enjoyed reading his Bible. He was a gardener, beekeeper, and avid bowler who also enjoyed playing cards, chess, and horseshoes. Ted never met a stranger and enjoyed joking with everyone.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda Mae Frady Farmer; children, Pam Farmer and Jon "Robbie" Farmer; grandson, Ethan Holland (Tasha); great-grandchildren, Novalee and Brentlee; step grandson, Trae Perry (Bethany); step great-grandchildren, Ayden, Annaleigh, Ryan, and Sylas; sisters, Margaret Hawks, Diane McDowell, and Bernice Woodard; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, February 3 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Eddie Stillwell and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jon Farmer, Ethan Holland, Trae Perry, Randy Farmer, Tarrie Moon, and David Wilson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gene Pickens, Gene Stamey, Wade Waldroop, Bobby Hawks, and Frank Frady.
