Spence R. Ledford, 74 of Franklin passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007.
A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Ira Ledford and Mattie Nell Shope Ledford. Spence was a U.S. Air Force veteran; retired building construction superintendent; member of Iotla Baptist Church serving as deacon and assistant Sunday school teacher for the Junior Boys Class; active member of the community working with World Changers, Missions; Habitat for Humanity and helping anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Henderson Ledford; son, Tony Ledford and wife Wanda of Franklin; two sisters, Sue McCall and husband James of Franklin and Katherine Dean of Oak Hill, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Iotla Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Reeves, Rev. Jeff King and Rev. Don Moffitt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 9, at Macon Funeral Home.
Nephews will serve as Pallbearers, Jason Sleight, Josh Sleight, Little Charlie Brown, Jimmy Sullivan, Chad Henderson, Steve Hackler, Gareth Henderson, Keith Shope and Bobby Shope.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons and Men of Iotla Baptist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Iotla Baptist Church, Mission Outreach, 1537 Iotla Church Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
