Obituary
R.W. "Cotton" Beals, 78, Franklin, NC, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
He attended St. Thomas Aquinas (Central Catholic) High School. He then enlisted in the Marines. He was a strong Christian and a member of the Knights of Columbus and attended St. Francis Catholic Church. He retired from the Postal Service in 1997 after 37 years. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Miami Dolphins, New York Yankees and Notre Dame. "Cotton" never met a stranger and enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Sharon; daughters, Char (Rick) Anderson, Cheryl (Greg) Ford, grandchildren, Lindsey, Cortney, Garrett and Shelby; sister, Vicky Gibson; brother-in-laws, Jerry (Joan) Stuby and Ed (Precia) Stuby and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Catholic Church in Franklin, NC on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to The Rathbun Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803, or to St. Francis Catholic Church, 299 Maple Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
