Ruth Gallup Schmidt, 88, of Haines City, Florida, formerly of Franklin, NC passed away June 23rd, 2007.
Born in Ilion, New York, Ruth was the daughter of the late Lloyd Gallup and Marie Rodel Gallup. She married Frederick Bidgood of Dolgeville, NY and they moved to Rye, NY in 1948. She was employed as the secretary to the Director of Cafeterias for the Rye Public Schools.
After being widowed in 1969, she married Arthur E. Schmidt in 1970. They retired to Franklin in 1980 and for many years ran the Cowee Gem Shop and apartments. They were both active members of the Snow Hill Methodist Church. Ruth was widowed again in 2005.
She is survived by 3 sisters, Marion White of Fort Plain, NY, Dorothy McClary of Mayfield, NY, Alice Stout of Springfield, Virginia, and one brother, Lloyd Gallup of Ilion, NY. She is also survived by two daughters, Barbara Rocker of Haines City, FL, Lisa Ferrell of Kingsport, TN, one son, James Schmidt of Richmond, VA. and five grandchildren, Christine Bidgood Roche, Beau and Andrew Rocker, and Michael and Molly Schmidt. She also had two sons, Frederick and William Bidgood and a grandson, Will Bidgood, who preceded her in death.
Graveside Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, June 30, at the Snow Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Donna Cobb will officiate.
