Ruth S. Nutty, a long time resident of Franklin for 31 years passed away on April 28, 2007. She was married to the love of her life, John Franklin Nutty for 54 years. She was a wise woman, lady, avid gardener and always helped the women in her community. She was a former board member of Smokey Mountain Mental Health for 12 years. Ruth was devoted to Bill W and worked diligently to promote the message and cause helping the people of the Franklin area.
Ruth loved flower gardening and waited each year for the spring blooms to open. She was always comfortable in her life, enjoying to conversations of strangers, friends and family. She lived a rich, rewarding life working hard to make life better for the people around her.
Prior to living in Franklin, John & Ruth owned a family restaurant in Delray Beach, Florida called "The Nutty's Restaurant" for 14 years. The family worked hard serving homemade dinners, soups, breads and pies to the 200 guest each night, that enjoyed her hospitality and warm smile. After retiring from the restaurant, Ruth developed a strong interest in antiques. She and John developed an antiques business while retired and traveled to antiques shows across the southeast for 30 years.
She is loved dearly by her husband of 54 years, John F Nutty; her five children: Martha Nutty Knott (Tom) of Boynton Beach, Florida; Robert F Nutty (Ami) of Anchorage, Alaska; James W Nutty (Sandi) of Eagle River, Alaska; Carol Nutty Pavelcik of Maryville, Tennessee; and David J Nutty (Judy) of Sebastopol, California.
Ruth was loved by her six grandchildren: Christopher Knott (predeceased in 1975), Lauren Atkins, Michael Knott, Andrea Nutty, Victoria Nutty, and Alexandra Pavelcik. She is also survived by her brothers, Marshall Sandock and Lawrence Sandock and predeceased by her sister Barbara Sandock Flahtery and brother David Sandock, all of Cambridge, Massachusetts
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Reverend Vic Greene will officiate.
