Ruth Slagle McGaha, 90, of Franklin, passed away Friday, July 2, 2010.
A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Theron Alfred and Jane Hampton Slagle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Felton McGaha; two brothers, Forest Slagle and Earl Slagle; and two son-in-laws, Lyndon "Clyde" Breedlove and Douglas McArthur Posey. Ruth was a member of Tellico Baptist Church where she was a messenger for many years. She was a textile worker, housewife and gardener.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Jane Breedlove and Barbara Ann Posey; one son, William "Harold" McGaha; one sister, Agnes Slagle Hazard; five grandchildren, Danny Breedlove, Sheila Posey, Tony Posey, Todd McGaha and Jennifer McGaha Peele; ten great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 5 at Tellico Baptist Church. Rev. Gary McCoy, Rev. Jerry Guffey, Rev. Neal Ammons and Rev. Morris Tippett will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Todd McGaha, Tony Posey, T.J. Guffey, Ronnie Slagle, Morris Tippett, Gregg McGaha, Austin Posey and B.J. Parrish.
Memorial donations can be made to the Tellico Baptist Church.
