Ruth Jamison Shuler Buchanan, 82, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2013.
Born in Jackson Co, NC, she was the daughter of the late Monte Jamison and Etta Warren Jamison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Paul Shuler who died in 1970; her second husband, Ernest Guy Buchanan who died in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; the last of eleven children. Ruth owned and operated the Shuler Ruby Mine for over 43 years. She was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church, serving in various positions of the church. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who will be missed by many.
She is survived by four children, Cathy S. Conner, Joyce S. Tallent, Judy Evans and husband Lester and Tony Shuler and wife Janet all of Franklin; five grandchildren, Misty Stiltner and husband Chris, Brian Tallent and wife Natasha, Jessica Evans, Tanya Evans and Austin Shuler; three great-grandchildren, Corey Stiltner, McKenzie Holland and Lexi Tallent and several nieces and nephews. During her final days, Ruth was blessed to have had five special caregivers, Kaye Kelly, Natasha Tallent, Audrey Clark, Renie Mathis and Jan Allen.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12th, at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Rick Potts, Rev. Andy Cloer and Rev. Lester Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Watauga Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 11th, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Tallent, Austin Shuler, Chris Stiltner, Dale Raby, Joe Allen and Bob Collins.
