Ruby Penland Corpening, 91, of Hayesville passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008.
Born in Towns County GA. She was the daughter of the late John Burton Penland and Mary Jane Johnson Penland. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Quincey Corpening in 1979; a brother, Von Penland; three sisters, Euel Penland, Ethel Sims and Irene Kimsey Phillips and three nephews, Harold Kimsey, Floyd Kimsey and Ralph Phillips. Ruby graduated in 1942 from Berry College in Rome, GA. and later joined the Alumni Council of Berry College. She was active as a 4-H Director and a member of Cheerful Sounds. She was also a member of Ledford's Chapel United Methodist Church in Hayesville.
She is survived by one brother, Wayne Penland of Franklin, ten nephews , three nieces, twelve great nieces, fifteen great nephews, twenty great-great nephews, seventeen great-great nieces and one great-great-great niece.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Jackie Sellers will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
