Robert Ray Wallace, 71, of Franklin, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011.
Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late Ernest Wallace and Beatrice Green Wallace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William J. Wallace and George Hilton Wallace and granddaughter, Ashleigh Nicole Moore. He was a US Army veteran and member of the VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golfing. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all different kinds of sports especially the UNC Tarheels and Franklin Panthers. He was a member of Louisa Chapel Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marlene Creger Wallace; two children, Wendy Wallace Moore and husband Sean and Bobby Wallace both of Franklin; two brothers, Ernest "Sonny" Wallace and Donnie Wallace both of Franklin; two sisters, Nannie Dills Grennier and Joyce Wallace Setser both of Franklin; two grandchildren, Chris Mills and Patrick Moore and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, November 4 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. David Crunkleton will officiate. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Harold Scott, Jerry Wallace, Larry Wallace, Greg Wallace, Jeffrey Wallace and Gary Setser. NC DOT Division 14 will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
