Robert "Bob" James Baliles, 88, of Franklin passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
Born in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late Lemuel Baliles and Lulu Sherman Baliles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mildred Thomas Baliles and brother, Daniel Baliles. He was a US Navy Veteran and member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. The Baliles family moved to Franklin, NC in 1970 to a 144-acre farm in Cowee. During his adventurous life, Bob was a farmer, a building contractor, and he had numerous business ventures, including: Alpha Clean Water; and buying and selling antiques, musical instruments, and health products. Bob was a devoted Christian; he loved the Lord with all of his heart and loved to witness to others.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Baliles and family, Adam Baliles and family, and Marianne Baliles and family; six grandchildren, Joshua Baliles, Leah Flegel, Faith Baliles, Caleb Baliles, Aaron Baliles, and Casey Baliles; and two great-grandchildren, Issac Baliles and Gideon Flegel.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 16, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Wilkes will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 15 at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Baliles, Josh Baliles, Alan Thomas, Aaron Baliles, Bruce Bennett, and Todd Manning.
