R.L. Tallent, 89, of Franklin, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011.
Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late Jule B. Tallent and Cora Scruggs Tallent. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lynete Martin Tallent and brothers and sisters, Margie Sourgose, Virginia Huffman, Luther Tallent, Henry Tallent and Carl Tallent. R.L. was a US Air Force veteran and served during WWII. He was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Hope Horton Tallent; two daughters, Rhonda Tallent Davis and husband Carroll of Nashville, TN and Shelley Moffitt and husband Frank of Franklin; two step sons, Dr. Gary Kling and wife Karen of Greensboro, NC and Rev. Larry Kling and wife Anne of Foley, AL; four grandchildren, Joe, Justin and Luke Moffitt and Jeff Tallent and four great grandchildren, Caden, Avery, Gentry and Finley Moffitt.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Don Moffitt and Brother Charlie Bass will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with full military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Frank Moffitt, Carroll Davis, Joe Moffitt, Justin Moffitt, Luke Moffitt and Jeff Tallent.
