R.L. Houston, 88, of Franklin, NC, entered into rest on Thursday, June 1, 2006.
A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Emlis G. Houston and Emma McCoy Houston. He was married first to Helen Ruth Mason Houston and second to Pansy Joyce Love Houston. In addition he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert "Bob", Jay and Raleigh. He was a member of Cowee Baptist Church. R.L. loved woodworking, gardening and crafts. He retired from New Port News Ship Building and Dry Dock Co.
He is survived by a son, Bill Houston and wife Evelyn of Franklin; two brothers, Hayes Eugene Houston and wife Virginia of Franklin and E.G. "Junior" Houston and wife Bell of Easley, SC; one sister, Shirley Reagan and husband Charles of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Melissa Wallace, Mike Houston and Ken Morgan; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Lloyd Fish and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Wallace, Ken Morgan, Mike Houston, Conrad Henry, Sonny Burrell and Hayes Crisp.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Isaac and Jacob Wallace.
