Obituary
Richard D. Whitehurst, 79, of Lakeland, FL and summer resident of the Cullasaja River RV Park, Highlands Road, Franklin, NC, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 27, 2006.
A native of Auburndale, FL, he was the son of the late Richard E. Whitehurst and Lillie Wooddall Whitehurst. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Lakeland and an associate member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Franklin, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia; three sons, Richard and wife Carolyn, Thomas and wife Ellen and Neal; and four grandchildren, Kyle, Heather, Keith and Christopher.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Franklin. Rev. Gary Brown will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Resurrection Lutheran Church in memory of Richard D. Whitehurst.
Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
