Richard Daniel Salmonson, Sr., 73, of Franklin, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014.

Born in Gansevoort, NY, he was the son of the late Nels Jalmar Salmonson and Laura Morrisey Salmonson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Drum Salmonson and two brothers, Clifford and Eddie. Richard was a member of Tessentee Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, camping, working in his shop on vintage motors, small engines and tractors, building black powder muskets and tinkering.

He is survived by three children, Rebekah L. Simonds and husband Bruce of Lehigh Acres, FL, Richard D. Salmonson, Jr. and wife Lonna of Franklin and Sarah S. Reed and husband Rod of Cannon, GA; two brothers, Gerald Salmonson and Alfred Salmonson both of Gansevoort, NY; two sisters, Elma Woodcock and Hilda Ryles both of Gansevoort, NY; four grandchildren, Mannon Salmonson, Isaac Salmonson, James Reed and William Reed and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 4, at Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Carl Carpenter, Rev. Rondal Owen and Rev. Bobby Cloer will officiate. Burial will be in the Wright Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mannon Salmonson, Chad Buchanan, Randy Drinnon, Brad Bishop, Ronnie Jones, Robbie Hartsell, James Reed and William Reed.

Memorial donations can be made to the Wright Cemetery, C/O Tessentee Baptist Church.
