Rean J. Toney Jr., 93, passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2013.
He was born in Winifrede, WV, on November 13, 1919 and resided in Chelyan, WV most of his life. After retiring form Owens Illinois Glass Co. in Atlanta, GA, he retired to Franklin, NC where he was a charter member of Newfound Baptist Church. He worked at Lowe's in Franklin in the garden center and at Ingles up into his nineties. He was a Christian and an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Katherine Mae Toney; parents, Rean and Julia Toney; sisters, Annabelle Toney and Georgie Bumgardner.
Surviving are his present wife, Virginia Sue Bishop toney; daughters, Jane Weaver and husband Richard of Franklin, NC and Kathy Bailey and husband Phillip of St. Albans, WV; step-children, Brian Bishop of Sylva, NC and Tobby Bishop of Spartanburg, SC; step-grandchildren, Jacob and Emily Bishop and his beloved grandson, Tony Wilder and wife Meghan and great-grandsons, Jackson and Owen all of St. Albans, WV.
Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The Reverends S.J. Waters, Benny Bagwell and Alan Waters will officiate. Burial will be in Rush Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Newfound Conservative Baptist Church.
