Ray C. Watkins, 65, of Otto, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012.
Born in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late Sylvester "Bud" Watkins and Barbara Bosler Watkins. He was a US Marine Corp veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW Post 7339 of Franklin, NC. Ray retired after 26 years from Pfizer, Inc.; he was on the board of directors for Macon Citizens for the Handicapped and was of the Baptist faith.
He was the loving husband of Alice Waldrop Watkins for 34 years; devoted father of, Angela Ross (Steve) of Cleveland, GA; and son, Robert Pickens (Heidi) of Loganville, GA; proud grandfather of, Faith Ross, Christopher Pickens and Mitchell Pickens; two step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Andrews of Buford, GA and Rose Brown of Abbeville, SC and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 10, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215 or Fidelia Eckerd Living Center, Po Box 742, Highlands, NC 28741.
