Randal Koons, "Randy", was born on February 25, 1943 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in Iowa and is survived by his brother, Ronald Koons of Chicago, Illinois. He met his wife, Ruth Ellen at a military dance in Colombus, Ohio in 1967. They were married on December 27, 1969 and enjoyed 42 years of happiness together. Randy spent the majority of his career working in various roles at Walt Disney World for 27 years. Randy and Ruth had three children: Kevin Albert, Kirk Charles, and Kimberly Nicole. He was pre-deceased by his first born son, Kevin. They are now happily reunited in the kingdom of God. He has four granchildren which brought him immense amounts of pride and joy: Noah Kevin Barefoot, Sarah Ellen Barefoot, Kyle Goodman Koons, Kieran Thomas Koons.

Randy was an avid LA Dodger fan, loved to read, make jigsaw puzzles, and loved the Lord. He enjoyed the outdoors including hiking and camping which were among his favorite activities. He was called home to heaven on Saturday, October 13, 2012 while hiking in the North Carolina mountains with his son.

The funeral will be held at Woodlands Lutheran Church in Montverde, FL on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held before the service beginning at 10:00 am.
