Obituary

Patricia Ann (Hopewell) Lamb, 88, formerly of Terre Haute, IN, passed away peacefully at the Hermitage in Dillsboro, North Carolina on Monday, February 17, 2014, where she had resided for the past three years.

She was born March 13, 1925, in Sullivan, Indiana to Roy and Edna Hopewell. Her creativity and talent led her to attend Indiana State Teacher's College where she majored in art. Over her lifetime, Pat created many works of art taking inspiration from nature and utilizing many mediums, especially oil and water colors. She also enjoyed a variety of crafts and organic gardening. In 1989, Pat retired from Indiana State University after 33 years of service in the Cunningham Memorial Library. During her retirement, she occasionally worked at Wabash River Books where she enjoyed conversing with customers and creating fantastic window displays.

She was preceded in death by her former husband and father of her children, Carl Paul Lamb, and by her second husband Robert Scott Lamb, to whom she was married for over 30 years. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Robert Hopewell, and two sisters, Helen Denney and Mary Francis Long.

She is survived by her three children, Carol Ann Tippett (David) of Franklin, NC; Dr. Courtney C. Lamb (Carol) of Libertyville, IL and Harriett B. Kelley (Tim) of Terre Haute, IN. She is also survived by six special grand-children who brought her much joy: Jeep Cassle (Elizabeth); Doug Cassle (Brooke); Robert Cassie (Amber); Bradley Lamb; Todd Lamb (Alissa) and Derrick Kelley; and ten great-grand-children.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21st at Iotla Baptist Church. Dr. Jeff Hensley and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. It was Pat's wishes to have her cremains interred at Arlington National Cemetery with her late husband, Robert Scott Lamb. If so desired, memorial donations should be made to the charity of your choice.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
