Nick Pargeans, 86, of Franklin, NC, died on August 30, 2007 after a short illness.
Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1921 he was the son of the late William and Pota Pargeans. He was married to Winifred Anderson for 47 years, she pre-deceases him by 5 years. He was brother to John Pargeans, deceased. Nick lived in NJ most of his life, where he had a long career as a Longshoreman working at Port Newark. During World War II he served as a cook in the U.S. Army while stationed in Guatemala. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Franklin.
He is survived by sister, Anne Demas. Father to William Pargeans and his wife Kathleen of NJ. Grandfather to Andrew and Kristin. Nick also had three nieces and two grandnieces.

Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 14, at First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Bob Abel will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
