Neva Scruggs Ennis, 103, passed away May 7, 2011 in Highlands, NC. She was born August 14, 1907 in Gainesville, FL. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Brick Pomeroy Scruggs and Sara Fay Carmichael Scruggs and her husband of 57 years, John Gary Ennis. Growing up in Tampa, she graduated from Hillsborough High School. She attended Sullins College, Sargent College, The University of Nebraska, graduating from Florida State College for Women with a degree in physical education. Neva taught school in Miami and Arlington, VA before returning to Tampa with her husband after WWII. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Tampa and was an active member of the DAR, UDC, Colonial Dames, Kappa Delta Sorority and the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary. Neva and her husband, John Gary, enjoyed painting, traveling and square dancing. She leaves behind her son, Gary and daughter-in-law, Dottie; two grandchildren, Morgan (Larry) Fiebig, Jon (Susan) Ennis; two step grandchildren, JR (Beth) Owen and Ashley (John) Barganier and eleven great grandchildren. Neva loved her time with extended family at Indian Rocks Beach, FL and the mountains of NC. She cherished her family, friends and her Lord.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Tampa or the Adult Rehabilitation Center of the Salvation Army in Tampa.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at the First Baptist Church of Tampa. Rev. Charles Lowry will officiate.
