Nellie Jane Hedden Peek, 99, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late John Manuel Hedden and Ruie Jane Woods Hedden. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bulen Neil Peek; two sons, Grendell Peek and Morley Peek; brothers, Jessie, Fred, Sherman, Elbert, Theodore, Ray, Lindsey and Riley and sisters, Edla Hedden and Delia Gregory. Nellie was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She owned and operated Peeks Ruby Mine along with her husband and she loved gardening.

She is survived by seven children, Harold Peek of Middleburg, FL, Leroy Peek, Sterling Peek, Douglas Peek and Christine Parrish all of Franklin, Maxine Shepherd of Candler and Doris Crane of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two brothers, Cletus Hedden and Homer Hedden both of Franklin; two sisters, Ina Carpenter and Allie Gibson both of Franklin; fifteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Wiley Gibson and Rev. Rick Potts will officiate. Burial will be in the Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
