Myrtle Mae Shields, 92, of Franklin, NC, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011.
Born in Tallahassee, FL, she was the daughter of the late John Bloxham Smith and Amy Lee Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Curtis Shields Sr.; a son, Benny Bloxham Shields and a brother, John Bloxham Smith. Myrtle owned and managed a marina in St. Marks, FL. She loved to travel and moved to Franklin in 2005. She was a member of Oyster Bay Church of Christ and attended Holly Springs Baptist Church in Franklin.
She is survived by two children, Anita Register and husband Tillman of Franklin and Charles Curtis Shields and wife Pamela of St. Marks, FL; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Franklin at a later date.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, in Crawfordville Cemetery, Crawfordville, FL.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, at Culley's Meadow Wood Funeral Home in Tallahassee, FL.
