On Wednesday September 28, 2011 at 12:23pm surrounded by with her hands grasped by her husband and her children, the Lord came and took back his precious gift to us all, Mary Walker. She lived 90 glorious and joy filled years. Mary was the youngest of five and has been a member of the Franklin, North Carolina community since leaving Florida 6 years ago. Her life was one of adventure, church, friends, family and most importantly Love! When asked why she passed, the answer is simple: "A Full Life and She was needed back Home!"
Mary was born on May 10, 1921 to Joseph ad Ettie Hudson. She is survived by her husband of forty-one years, William Walker, her daughter Betty Jo Wood with husband Rupert Wood of Franklin and his three children in Florida, her son Richard Copher with wife Pamela Peterson of Tampa, and her son Ronald Copher with wife Brenda Hatton of Tampa. She had five grandchildren: Douglas, Donald, Darren, Heather and Joshua. She had the great honor of also being a Great-Grandmother to five.
Mary worked as a welder in the port of Tampa during the war effort and after that the Delmonte Can Company and later in life found her true calling in life as a preacher's wife. Because of this, she became a minister to all who met her and so many more. She always felt though, that her most important job was her family.
One word to best describe Mary would be Devoted. She was devoted to her friends. Always there if they needed her no matter how big or small. Devoted to her family. She loved her family like no other. She would always stand behind them and support them. She believed in her children and always fought to be sure that they were on the right path. She pushed them hard but always picked them up when they would stumble. She was the definition of a family woman. Her love of her husband, children and grandchildren inspired others to be the same with their own families.
More than anything, Mary was devoted to her faith. The decisions she made and the way she lived her many years on earth were always done in a way pleasing to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved her bible and read it daily. The Lord surely has a special place reserved with her name on it by His side!

Earth has one angel less, and heaven one more since yesterday. Already, kneeling at the throne, she has received her welcome, and is resting on the bosom of her Savior.
