Obituary

Mary Hazel Curtis Phillips, 77, of Bryson City, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Prince Curtis and Cora McCall Curtis. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, George Curtis and Lennie Curtis; and sister Bernice Wood. Mary attended Franklin Church of God in the past and was most recently a member of Cartoogechaye Church of God. Her favorite hobby was sewing.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Rev. Ellis Phillips; children, Rev. Randal Phillips (Zelda), of Burnsville, NC, and Rev. Gary Phillips (Denise), of Hamilton, AL; sister, Margie Curtis, of Otto; brother, Keith Curtis, of Otto; four grandchildren, Kristen Sherrill (Bobby), Michael Phillips (Christina), Rev. Gary Phillips II (Heather), and Rev. Daniel Phillips (Ashley); seven great-grandchildren, Sara Sherrill, Cody Sherrill, Rachel Phillips, Zoie Phillips, Parker Phillips, Gage Phillips, and Hailey Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 10, 2018 in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Don Moffitt and Mary's two sons, Rev. Randal Phillips and Rev. Gary Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Sherrill, Michael Phillips, Rev. Gary Phillips II, Rev. Daniel Phillips, Cody Sherrill, and Rev. Danny Musick. Great-grandsons Parker and Gage Phillips will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
