Mary Virginia Moses Corbin of 88 Chestnut Drive, Franklin, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Angel Community Hospital. Born August 18, 1933, to Edna Bowman Moses and Lorenz Moses, she is survived by her husband of 58 years Wilford Corbin, two sisters, Hazel Stamey and Melba Huggins, of Franklin and one brother, Joe Moses, of Asheville. Additionally, she has four children Tom, Paula, Carroll, and Eric all surviving. She considered herself blessed with four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Harry and Edgar Moses.
Virginia was an active lifelong member of the Higdonville Baptist church and enjoyed singing in the choir. Additionally, she had served as a teacher assistant with the Bureau of Indian Affairs while living in Alaska and had been active in the Macon County Extension Homemakers. Her contributions to her family as mother, homemaker, and assistant in the family tree farm were iconic. She loved her family, all children, and was passionate about her home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2010, 11:00 A.M. at the Higdonville Baptist Church, Reverend Charles Hutson officiating. Burial will be at the Higdonville Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
