Marshall Fouts, 83, of Franklin, NC, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 3, 2006.
A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late W.T. Fouts and Dora Rickman Fouts. He was married to the late Evelyn Huggins Fouts who died June 17, 1999 and was preceded in death by two brothers, Jacob Astor Fouts and Milton Fouts; three sisters, Lois Franklin, Dessie Guyer and Frances Taylor. He was a US Air Corp veteran of WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 108. Marshall retired from the Macon County School System. He was an active member of Iotla Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir director, R.A. Leader and served in numerous offices of the church.
He is survived by two sons, Jim Fouts and Fred Fouts both of Franklin, NC; one sister, Doris Lynch of Franklin; three brothers, Remon Fouts of Waynesville, NC, Merritt Fouts of Franklin, NC and W.R. "Widge" Fouts of Triangle, VA; three grandchildren, Tony Sutton, Elizabeth Fouts and Cadon Fouts all of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2006, at Iotla Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Reeves and Rev. Tommy Fouts will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 6, at Iotla Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Bill Fouts, Avery Fouts, Eddie Guyer, Sam Tallent, Sharon Taylor, Alex Taylor, Josh Lynch and Ryan Rowland.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the John Campbell Sunday School Class, Daniel Wilson and Gay Fouts.
