Marie Lorraine Palmatier Stone, 78, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed on Sunday, October 17, 2021, surrounded by her family. Marie loved walking the Maryland beaches of the Chesapeake Bay and exploring her North Carolina property. She especially loved her Patterson Grove Campmeeting cottage where she spent the summers of her youth, and returned to spend many of her final summers. Marie's heart found beauty in everything, from the wonders of nature to abandoned buildings to a thrift store item, her hands aching to touch it all. Marie worked as a piano instructor, elementary teacher, then eventually at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, entering as "that security officer with the amazing smile" before eventually transitioning to the training department from which she retired. Marie was well known to be energetic, enthusiastic, and spontaneous. She was dynamic in groups, but happy in solitude. A beloved sister, mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend, Marie will be sorely missed. Rest in peace. Moffitt Family Funeral Care is honored to serve Marie's family.
