Luther H. Palmer, 82, of Franklin, passed away Friday, February 08, 2013.
Raised in Macon, GA, he was the son of the late Stanton Luther Palmer and Margaret Catherine Giannini Palmer. Luther was a member of the 210th National Guard, MP Division; and a member of Burningtown Baptist Church. In his early career he managed propane offices in Georgia and North Carolina, and was an electrician and Macon County Electrical Inspector for many years. Luther enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes, was an Amateur Radio Operator, and an avid Volkswagen enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Joann Rowland Palmer; four children, Luther "Buddy" Palmer, Jr. and wife Lynn of Marietta, GA, Kathy Gail Palmer Orr and husband Robert of Franklin, Mark Palmer and wife Marlene Thomas of Woodruff, SC and Corliss Palmer Reynolds and husband Matthew of South Jordon, Utah; sister, Charlotte Thompson of Wenatchee, Washington, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his faithful companions, a Jack Russell Terrier, "Pup", and two cats.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Randy Drinnon will officiate. Burial will be in the Burningtown Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, February 11, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Paul Wilson, Harrison Orr, Ben Carpenter, Charlie Diez, Marty Rowland and Steve Keener. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Drinnon, Kenneth Mashburn, Terry Land, Wayne Cunningham and David Bradley.
Memorial donations can be made to Burningtown Baptist Cemetery Fund or Macon County Humane Society.
