Lucy Bateman VanHook, 95, of Franklin, entered into rest Wednesday, October 30, 2019.
A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of Thomas Alexander (T.A.) Bateman and Mallie Waters Bateman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clarence Randolph VanHook, three daughters, Shirley VanHook, Kathy Rosemary VanHook Shirley Hayes and Mary Robin VanHook Fisher; three sisters, Nannie Bateman Morrow, Lali Bateman Raby and Milam Bateman Wilkie; and seven brothers, George Washington Bateman, Andrew Jackson (Jack) Bateman, Theodore (Thea) Roosevelt Bateman, Claude Bateman, Oscar Bateman, Gene Bateman and Garland Bateman. She was a homemaker and a member of Clarks Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Randy Bateman VanHook and wife, Julie, Thomas Jerry VanHook and Allan Dennis VanHook, all of Franklin; one daughter, Margaret "Susie" VanHook Billingsley and husband, Darrell of Scaly Mountain; grandchildren, Raelin V. Kalkauski, Kenneth VanHook, John A. VanHook, Preston G. Shirley, Levi H. Shirley, Thomas J. VanHook, Jr., Randy B. VanHook, Jr., Randy I. VanHook, Holly M. Parlier, Patricia J. Keener; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, Kelsey, Kayla, Madison, Kyle, Grant, Luke, Mark, Alexis, Paige, Eliza, Ever, Riley and Harper; great-great grandchildren, Anna Bella, Elena, Katarina, Gabriel, Olivia and Rosalie and sons-in law, Dewey Shirley and Gary Fisher.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Macon Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Macon Funeral Home, Larry Raby will officiate. Burial will follow immediately thereafter in the Clarks Chapel Church Cemetery.
Grandsons, John A. VanHook, Preston G. Shirley, Levi H. Shirley, Thomas J. VanHook, Jr., Randy B. VanHook, Jr., and great-grandson Grant A. VanHook will serve as Pallbearers.
